Walking Holidays - West Highland Way
One of Britain's best known long distance walks is the 100 mile trek from Milngavie [just north of Glasgow] to Fort William. The route takes you through gentle lowlands at the start, to very rugged paths through the Highlands.
Spectacular views are experienced from Loch Lomond at the southern end of the walk, and at Rannoch Moor towards the northern end of the journey.
The West Highland Way follows routes which were used for droving cattle until the last century, old military roads which were built to control the Jacobite Clans, coaching roads and old railway lines.
Crianlarich is situated right on the West Highland Way about half way between Milngavie and Fort William and is the ideal place to relax and 'recharge your batteries'.
The Ben More Lodge Hotel caters especially for walkers with comfortable accommodation, facilities for drying clothes, a welcoming bar with log fire, and a wide range of food served.
